Argentina is situated in South America east of the Andes. It is bordered by Chile to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the east and Uruguay, Bolivia, Paraguay and Brazil to the north and northeast. Argentina can be divided into four broad climatic regions.

1. East central Argentina or the Pampas : in this region summers are warm and winters are mild. It has an adequate rainfall during the summer months. The weather here is moderately sunny with an average of four to five hours sunshine a day in winter and eight to nine hours in summer. This is the most important agricultural region of the country The central Pampas is generally moderate throughout the year, with dry winters, hot summers and desert-like conditions in the far west. Frost may occur in most winter months but is not prolonged or severe. The climate is generally healthy and pleasant.

2. The northeastern interior : In the northeast, tropical and steamy is the daily forecast on its border with Brazil and the northern Chaco plain areas are usually hot and dry in the summer, and moderately cold and dry in the winter. The northeastern region has a warm climate. Temperatures remain quite high around the year. As this is the cloudier and wetter season, humidity sometimes is uncomfortable in the summer months. Winters are also generally mild or even warm but when cold spells in winter, it brings temperatures near or below freezing for a few hours.

3. Western Argentina : Western Argentina s a dry region. Snowfall is very light even on the higher mountains. In many places the annual rainfall is below 250 mm/10 in and very unreliable. Droughts in this area are frequent and often prolonged. Rainfall is more frequent during the summer months, which are generally hot and very sunny. Sunshine hours average as much as ten hours a day in summer and between seven and eight in winter.

4. Patagonia or southern Argentina : This region has a typical cool and temperate climate. The southernmost parts of Argentina are so close to the arctic, so it would be better for the people to travel Argentina in summer. Towards the west, in the foothills of the Andes, rainfall is greater as cloud spills over from the western side of the range. Winters are long with frequent frost and snow but, because of the influence of the ocean, the cold is never very severe or prolonged.
